Spam calls and phone scams remain a massive headache for smartphone users everywhere. However, the upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup could offer a significant remedy by baking Google’s scam detection features directly into the phone, eliminating the need for third-party apps.
According to recent leaks, the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra are poised to become the first non-Pixel devices to support Google’s "Scam Detection." Internal documents suggest that Samsung’s next-gen flagships are already being linked to this anti-scam system.
On recent Pixel models, Scam Detection works entirely on-device, analyzing calls in real-time to alert users of potential fraud. Newer Pixels leverage the Gemini Nano AI model via AI Core, while older models rely on machine learning running locally on the handset.
With Galaxy devices now appearing in Google’s internal support lists, it’s highly likely the S26 series will also utilize Gemini Nano to process call data locally. This means the heavy lifting happens right in your hand, without sending sensitive audio to an external server.
Reports indicate this feature is powered by Android CallCore, a background service that handles advanced calling features. Recent updates to CallCore have added scam detection capabilities, and system logs reveal that the Galaxy S26 Ultra already meets the hardware requirements to run it.
If these leaks hold true, Samsung users will gain a native solution to block scammers right out of the box. This is a crucial win for privacy; unlike many third-party apps that rely on cloud-based databases, Google’s approach keeps data processing on the device, minimizing the need to share personal information.
It remains unclear whether this feature will roll out globally or be limited to specific markets at launch. With Samsung expected to unveil the Galaxy S26 series soon, official confirmation shouldn't be far off.
