Samsung is expanding the reach of its December 2025 security update, bringing the latest patches to a broader selection of its mid-range portfolio. In this latest wave, the Galaxy A15 5G, A53, M53, and M44 have officially joined the list of supported devices.
In South Korea, the rollout has already kicked off for the Galaxy Buddy3 (the local moniker for the Galaxy A15 5G) carrying firmware version A156LKSS7CYL1. While currently limited to the domestic market, the update is expected to hit global regions in the coming days.
For the widely popular Galaxy A53, Samsung has pushed the update to users in Vietnam and Malaysia. The build, identified as A536EXXSIGYL3, focuses strictly on system hardening. It addresses approximately 68 security vulnerabilities flagged by Samsung and Google, though users shouldn’t expect any major feature changes or UI overhauls with this release.
The Galaxy M series is also seeing attention. The Galaxy M44 is updating in Korea with firmware M446KKSS7EYL1, while the Galaxy M53 has started receiving build M536BXXSCGYL2 across several Asian markets, including Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, and Taiwan.
Looking beyond the current security patches, these devices are slated to receive the major One UI 8.5 update in the near future. The stable version of One UI 8.5 is projected to launch alongside the Galaxy S26 series in early 2026, followed by a gradual rollout to other eligible models. However, exact timelines will likely vary by region and carrier.
How to Update Owners of the Galaxy A15 5G, A53, M53, and M44 can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. Once downloaded, simply tap Install Now to finalize the process and reboot the device.
