Ever since the Galaxy AI was introduced, many users have wondered how long these AI features would be free. Samsung once said that the AI toolkit would be free for a limited time, and the “end of 2025” mark was often mentioned as an end date.

However, in the latest announcement, Samsung has clarified the issue by confirming which Galaxy AI features will be free forever.

Sharing with Android Police, Samsung said that all Galaxy AI features pre-installed by default on the device will be completely free and will not be charged later. This means that features developed by Samsung itself, such as Audio Eraser, Object Eraser, Note Assistant, Generative Wallpaper, Live Translation, Writing Assistant, etc., will always be provided for free.

In the current Galaxy AI ecosystem, there are two main groups of features: one is independently developed by Samsung, the other is integrated Gemini features from Google. With the second group, Samsung does not have full control over the charging, as Google may change its policy in the future. Currently, many premium Gemini features are free to try on Samsung devices, but it is possible that they will soon be part of the Gemini Advanced paid package.

One reason why Samsung has to emphasize the free period may come from legal factors. If the company suddenly charges for all AI features without warning, it could face negative reactions or legal risks.

Samsung also left open the possibility of collaborating with other AI companies like Perplexity in the future, and when that happens, some new features may be included in the paid package. However, users can rest assured that the AI tools developed by Samsung will continue to be provided for free in the long term.
