Samsung is still the leader in the Android market in terms of software support policy. Mid-range devices are updated for up to 6 years, while flagships are up to 7 years. Some specialized models for businesses are even supported for up to 8 years. However, no device is supported forever, and this month, Samsung quietly removed three mid-range models from the software update list.
Specifically, the Galaxy A22, Galaxy M32, and Galaxy F22 are no longer appearing in Samsung's latest announced list of devices receiving updates. These three models were launched around mid-2021 and have completed the 4-year software support cycle as originally committed. This means that from now on, these devices will no longer receive any updates, including security patches.
The 5G version of the Galaxy M32, which was launched later in August 2021, is still on the support list. However, it is likely that this model will also stop receiving updates next month, when the software lifecycle is due.
While the update stoppage does not affect the basic usability of the device, users will no longer be protected from new security vulnerabilities. Therefore, if you are using one of the three Galaxy models mentioned above, this is a good time to consider upgrading.
The Galaxy 2025 product line offers many attractive options in both the mid-range and high-end segments, equipped with powerful hardware, modern AI features, and especially a longer software update policy. With new models, users can rest assured to use them for a long time without worrying about security or performance.
If you are using a Galaxy device, you should periodically check the software support status of the device, especially for models that have been released for more than three years. Devices in the twice-yearly update category are often the group most at risk of losing support soon.
