Samsung has officially begun internal testing for One UI 9, its upcoming interface based on the Android 17 operating system. In a notable development, firmware codes for the Galaxy S25 series have already been spotted on the company's test servers, signaling an accelerated development timeline.

According to technology analyst Tarun Vats, while the software builds for the Galaxy S25 series remain heavily guarded on the test servers, this marks the first concrete evidence that Samsung is preparing the next-generation OS for last year's flagship lineup.

If testing proceeds on schedule, Samsung could roll out a limited beta version for Galaxy S25 users in the coming weeks. This move follows the recent release of two beta updates for the newer Galaxy S26 series. The official, stable release is slated for a late July launch, coinciding with the debut of Samsung's new foldable lineup. Earlier, upcoming foldable devices—including the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Z Flip 8, and Z Fold 8 Wide—also surfaced on the test servers running similar builds.

Unlike the current One UI 8.5, the new interface will not feature a radical redesign. Instead, it focuses on streamlining the user experience to make the system noticeably smoother and more intuitive. The update will introduce "Tap to Share" for rapid data transfer between devices, alongside a suite of new artificial intelligence tools tailored specifically for the upcoming foldable models.

For now, however, Samsung's immediate priority remains polishing and widely deploying One UI 8.5 by the end of this month, after which the company will shift its full resources toward the new operating system. More devices are expected to appear on the test servers as the official release date approaches.
