It's been a busy day for Samsung in the US as a number of Galaxy devices have started receiving the stable One UI 7 update. Following the Galaxy S22, the Galaxy S21 series has also officially been upgraded to the latest software version. Both flagships were updated earlier in South Korea, and the expansion to the US suggests that the global rollout has begun.
It took Samsung quite a while to finalize and roll out One UI 7 on a large scale. The update process started early last month, but had to be paused due to bugs. However, after fixing and resuming in mid-April, Samsung has accelerated significantly and continuously released updates to many eligible models.
Initially, many people thought that the Galaxy S21 series would have to wait until June to receive One UI 7. However, Samsung surprisingly "scheduled it early" when it officially launched in the US this week. As noted, the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra models are currently receiving updates with the HYDA software code, starting with the locked versions of some major carriers. This update package also includes the April 2025 security patch.
Based on Android 15, One UI 7 brings many improvements to the interface, performance, and personalization capabilities. Users can expect smoother transition effects, refreshed application design, smarter customization, along with enhanced security tools and more efficient multitasking support. Tight integration with the Galaxy ecosystem is also a big plus in this update.
In the near future, Samsung will continue to update One UI 7 for a series of other Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Users can check manually by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install to see if their device has received it.
