One UI 8 brings many improvements in interface and experience, but the highlight that attracts the attention of the Galaxy user community is Adaptive Clock, a lock screen clock that can change size based on the wallpaper. The clock automatically "avoids" the subject in the photo by intelligently stretching each digit, creating an intuitive and modern feel. However, for this feature to work as designed, Samsung has just issued an important reminder: update LockStar in Good Lock to version 7.0.1.10.

Adaptive Clock is built on a mechanism to recognize subjects and rearrange the clock in real time. Each digit can stretch independently, ensuring that it does not cover faces, animals or any prominent details in the wallpaper. When LockStar is not updated, the system will not be able to understand the new layout logic, leading to errors such as the clock being in the wrong position, the numbers being distorted, out of line, or even overlapping the photo subject.

LockStar version 7.0.1.10 was actually released in August, but many users are still using the old version without knowing that this is the reason why Adaptive Clock works abnormally. Previous versions do not support the smart stretching mechanism of One UI 8, so interface conflicts are common.

Updating LockStar is very simple. In the Good Lock app, you switch to the Plugins tab and tap Update next to LockStar if there is a new version. You can also open the Galaxy Store, go to Updates in the menu, to check and update all the necessary plugins. Once LockStar is at the correct supported version, the Adaptive Clock will work smoothly again.

Another note from Samsung is that the Adaptive Clock cannot work with all types of wallpapers. Wallpapers need to have a clear subject and recognizable outline, such as people, pets, or prominent objects. If you use a background image that is too complex or doesn’t have a specific subject, this feature may not give accurate results. Just change the background image to suit, and you will see Adaptive Clock work at its best.
