Samsung was quicker than expected. Although the Galaxy Watch 8 series was the first to come pre-installed with One UI 8 Watch, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2024 version was the first watch model to receive this update. Today, Samsung officially announced the release of One UI 8 Watch for the Galaxy Watch Ultra.
In fact, the update was released this morning, even before Samsung made an official announcement. Thus, the beta testing phase in Korea and the US has ended after a few weeks. According to the announcement, One UI 8 Watch will be gradually deployed to older Galaxy Watch models.
It is worth noting that in the announcement, Samsung only mentioned the Galaxy Watch Ultra and did not mention the Galaxy Watch 7, although both are participating in the testing program. It is very likely that the Watch 7 will also receive the update today, but Samsung is prioritizing the Watch Ultra.
What's new in One UI 8 Watch?
All Galaxy Watch models eligible for One UI 8 Watch will get an upgraded interface with more diverse information panels, more personalization options, Now Bar integration, and access to the Gemini AI tool. Eligible models include the Galaxy Watch 4 and later.
However, some new health features that debuted with the Galaxy Watch 8 at Unpacked 2025 will only be added to the Galaxy Watch Ultra and Watch 7. Specifically:
- Vascular Load
- Antioxidant Index
- Running Coach
Samsung said these features require the next-generation BioActive sensor, which is only available on models launched from 2024 onwards. Additionally, the Bedtime Guidance and High Stress Alert features are not yet mentioned in this update for the Watch Ultra 2024, and will likely remain exclusive to the 2025 models.
Depending on the region, it may take longer to receive the update. If you want to experience One UI 8 Watch right away without having to wait, this is the last time to order the new Galaxy Watch 8 or Watch Ultra with attractive deals from Samsung.
