Samsung has released detailed information about its December 2025 security update for Galaxy devices. This is among the most substantial patches released this year, addressing over 57 security vulnerabilities affecting Android and the One UI ecosystem.

Among the vulnerabilities identified by Google, six are classified as critical severity, with the remainder categorized as high-risk issues that directly impact Android's core security layer. Additionally, Samsung proactively patched 11 Galaxy-specific vulnerabilities to ensure comprehensive device protection against emerging threats.

Some of the most critical issues were found in the fingerprint sensor component, bootloader system, and image processing library, which could potentially be exploited for unauthorized data access or manipulation. The update also addresses a Dynamic Lockscreen flaw that could leak data to other applications, along with authentication errors in the radio interface layer.

Samsung stated that the December patch will be distributed in phases to eligible devices. Last month's update rolled out more slowly as the company prioritized completing the major One UI 8 update (Android 16). Now that the major OS upgrade cycle is complete, the December patch is expected to reach devices more rapidly.

Users can check for and install the update by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
