Samsung continues to refine its customization game with the latest update to LockStar, a key module within the popular Good Lock suite. Rolling out now, version 8.5.00.10 brings a fresh wave of personalization options to Galaxy users, specifically targeting those on One UI 8 and the newer One UI 8.5.
Building on last month’s major overhaul for One UI 8.5—which introduced custom unlock animations—Samsung has added a new effect dubbed "Swirl." This addition brings the total number of unlock animations to 12, giving users even more ways to add flair to their device. The update also tweaks the UI, improving the visibility of the status bar while users are previewing these effects.

Beyond aesthetics, the update addresses functionality. LockStar now offers refined manual brightness controls for the full-screen Always On Display (AOD). While manual brightness was introduced previously, this patch stabilizes the feature, though it remains exclusive to devices running One UI 8.5 for now.
However, users on One UI 8 haven't been left behind. The update improves text visibility on standard AOD screens and introduces manual brightness adjustments for non-full-screen AOD setups, offering greater flexibility across different software versions.
Availability If you are already using LockStar, the update is currently rolling out via the Galaxy Store. You can check for it manually by navigating to the store’s update section or launching the Good Lock app directly. As with most staged rollouts, availability may vary by region and device, so it might take a few days to reach everyone.
For the uninitiated, Good Lock is Samsung’s powerhouse suite for deep system customization. It allows Galaxy owners to tweak everything from the home screen and notification shade to the navigation bar and sound assistant, with regular updates keeping the experience fresh.
