According to industry sources, Samsung will significantly upgrade the wireless charging speed on the Galaxy S26 series launched in early 2026. Specifically, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will support 25W wireless charging, while the Galaxy S26 and S26+ versions will reach 20W, much higher than the 15W level on the previous generation.
An industry representative said: "The Galaxy S25 series only supports 15W wireless charging, but the Galaxy S26 models will be equipped with higher power, significantly shortening the charging time." In theory, the 25W level can reduce charging time by up to 40% compared to 15W. If the Galaxy S25 takes about 100 minutes to fully charge, the Galaxy S26 Ultra only takes about 60 minutes.
Wireless charging technology works based on the principle of electromagnetic induction, transmitting energy without the need for a connecting cable. As the capacity increases, the current transmitted to the battery also increases, helping to shorten the charging time and bring a true “fast wireless charging” experience.
This is the first time in 6 years that Samsung has upgraded the wireless charging capacity on its flagship line. Since the Galaxy S20 (2020) until now, all of its flagships – including the Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy Z7 series – only support a maximum of 15W. Meanwhile, Apple has supported 25W Qi2 standard wireless charging on the iPhone 16, while the iPhone Air reaches 20W. Chinese brands like Huawei and Xiaomi have even advanced to 50W.
Analysts say Samsung's move to boost charging capacity this time is an important step to keep up with trends and increase competitiveness, while still ensuring battery safety standards - a factor the company has paid special attention to after the Galaxy Note7 incident in 2016.
Upgrading wireless charging on the Galaxy S26 series also opens up the possibility that Samsung will apply this technology to upcoming foldable models like the Galaxy Z and then expand it to mid-range models. This move also brings new opportunities for Samsung's wireless charging component suppliers, such as Wits, Amotech, and Hansol Technics.
According to a report by WiseGuyReports, the smartphone market supporting wireless charging will continue to grow strongly, from 20.3 billion USD in 2023 to 23.8 billion USD in 2025, and could reach 75 billion USD in 2035, as users increasingly prefer a more convenient, wireless, and safe charging experience.
