Samsung has just paused the distribution of the One UI 8 (Android 16) update for the Galaxy S24 series, including the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra, just a short time after doing the same for the Galaxy S22 series. According to the latest reports, the One UI 8 firmware has now been removed from Samsung's servers in South Korea.
The pause is currently limited to the South Korean market, and it's unclear whether Samsung will apply the same measure to other regions. It's worth noting that South Korea is also the only country where Samsung has yet to restore the One UI 8 update to any Galaxy S22 model, while in other regions, at least the Galaxy S22 Ultra is still in the process of being updated.
The Galaxy S24 series started receiving One UI 8 nearly a month ago, so the fact that Samsung is pulling the update weeks after its release has surprised the user community. However, there have been no reports of serious bugs, suggesting that this may just be a technical move to fix some minor internal bugs.
In the coming time, Samsung may adjust and re-release a more stable patch before continuing to expand the deployment to other regions. We will continue to update when there is more information about the reason for the sudden pause of One UI 8 on the Galaxy S24 series.
