While many users are still eagerly awaiting the official rollout of One UI 8.5, Samsung is already forging ahead with its next-generation software: One UI 9. Following its flagship models, the mid-range Galaxy A34 is the latest device spotted running an internal test build of the upcoming operating system.

Data pulled from Samsung’s European test servers reveals that the Galaxy A34 is actively testing a One UI 9 build based on Android 17. The firmware, carrying the version number A346BXXUFGZF1, brings a notable under-the-hood change: Samsung has transitioned from the aging MD5 format to SHA256 encryption, significantly bolstering the new OS’s security framework.

This development places the Galaxy A34 among the first batch of devices to undergo internal One UI 9 testing. It joins a growing roster that already includes the Galaxy A17 5G, A57, and the premium Galaxy S25 and S26 series.

Currently, the tech giant has only rolled out a limited One UI 9 Beta program for three models within the Galaxy S26 lineup. While public beta builds for the remaining devices have yet to materialize, Samsung is widely expected to expand the program in the coming weeks.

The stable release of One UI 9 is projected to launch alongside Samsung’s next generation of foldables—the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Z Flip 8—slated for late July. Following this debut, the update roadmap for supported legacy devices, including the Galaxy A34, will begin rolling out in the latter months of the year.
