Samsung has officially launched its December 2025 security patch for the Galaxy ecosystem, with a surprising choice for the first device: the mid-range Galaxy A34 5G, rather than a flagship model. The Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 7 are expected to receive the update soon.
Currently available in Indonesia with firmware A346EXXSBEYK3, this update focuses solely on security enhancements without adding new features. The Galaxy A34 5G already runs Samsung's latest operating system, One UI 8, making this a pure security maintenance release.
Samsung will expand the December patch to additional markets for Galaxy A34 5G users in the coming days, with other Galaxy smartphones and tablets following in scheduled waves. Users can manually check for availability by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install. If the update isn't visible yet, checking again after a few days is recommended.
The latest security documentation shows the December 2025 patch contains 68 fixes addressing Android and One UI vulnerabilities. At least six are classified as critical by Google and could cause significant damage if exploited, making immediate installation advisable.
While this patch doesn't introduce new features for the Galaxy A34 5G, Samsung is currently refining One UI 8.5 with substantial improvements. That version will debut with the Galaxy S26 in early 2026 before rolling out to eligible devices in the first half of the year.
