Samsung is facing significant delays in releasing One UI 7.0 – a software update based on Android 15. Despite four months having passed, the company has yet to set an official release date, leaving many Galaxy users disappointed. However, a Samsung executive has recently explained the real reason behind the delay.
According to Sally Hyesoon Jeong, Executive Vice President and Head of Framework R&D Team at Samsung, this update is not just a minor upgrade, but a major change in the way Samsung designs the user interface and experience. The company started planning two to three years ago, aiming to create a major breakthrough instead of just releasing a small incremental update as usual.
She said that Samsung has taken a completely new approach to One UI 7.0, in which each feature has been redesigned to optimize for the actual needs of users. In addition, the company also worked closely with Google to integrate Gemini AI into many applications, helping to improve the ability to support artificial intelligence on the operating system. However, developing new APIs and SDKs to integrate AI into the system has increased complexity, leading to a longer completion time than expected.
The pursuit of perfection and spending more time to refine the interface and features has significantly delayed One UI 7.0. However, Samsung promises that this update will bring significant improvements to the user interface and AI experience. The fourth beta of One UI 7.0 is expected to be released for the Galaxy S24 series next week, and the official version may start rolling out later this month.
