Samsung starts testing One UI 7 on its first triple-screen phone

Samsung is quietly developing its first tri-fold phone, and while the company has yet to officially announce anything, there are signs that the device is nearing completion. Recently, data from Samsung's internal servers revealed that the company is testing One UI 7.0 software for the device, revealing a new step in the development process.

According to @theonecid, the tri-fold phone with model number SM-F968 has appeared on Samsung's servers. Notably, the SM-F968N code represents the version for the Korean market - the main market where Samsung often releases new devices first. China is also said to be one of the priority markets for this product.

The latest software update has the code F968NKSU0AYD3, following the previous test version with the code AYC1. This suggests that Samsung is tweaking One UI 7.0 – the latest user interface based on Android 15 – to optimize for the unique tri-fold design, which is completely different from the current Z Fold and Z Flip lines.

Samsung's upcoming tri-fold phone is rumored to have a display that expands to 9.9 or 10 inches – which is significantly larger than the Z Fold. For quick comparison, the Huawei Mate Xs – one of the few competitors on the market – only reaches 10.2 inches when opened. With this size, Samsung's product promises to bring an experience like a real tablet, but with the ability to fold neatly in a pocket.

However, the launch date of the device is still unclear. Some sources say the tri-fold phone will be unveiled alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 in July this year, while others predict a January 2026 launch. The most likely scenario right now is that the device will be introduced in limited quantities in Korea and China over the summer before expanding to international markets early next year.
