While One UI 8.5 is currently taking center stage, Samsung is reportedly already conducting internal tests for One UI 9 on select Galaxy devices. According to a new leak, the tech giant is developing a dedicated app called "Warranty & Care," designed to make managing repairs and warranties significantly more straightforward and intuitive.
Currently, checking a Galaxy device's warranty status or scheduling a repair can feel a bit disjointed. Samsung aims to change this by streamlining these processes into a single, system-level hub. Data from a recent test build indicates that the Warranty & Care app will serve as the ultimate command center for all customer support needs.
One standout feature is "Diagnostics," which allows users to run quick health checks and spot potential hardware or software issues. This is likely an evolution of the existing tools found in the Samsung Members app, but overhauled for better user-friendliness.
Additionally, Samsung is integrating an "Ask Bixby" option to act as a troubleshooting assistant. Users can fire off quick questions about common headaches—like severe battery drain or system instability—and receive tailored, step-by-step guidance.
The app also introduces a "Request a repair" section, enabling users to book service appointments directly while potentially viewing estimated costs upfront. A built-in search bar with auto-suggestions for common errors will further help users find quick fixes without having to dig through complex menus.
Crucially, the app will display full warranty status and past repair history right on the dashboard, keeping users fully informed about their device without needing to juggle multiple apps or websites.
As of now, most of these features are still in the early stages of development and aren't fully functional. Samsung will likely tweak or expand them before the official rollout. However, if deployed widely, Warranty & Care could shape up to be one of the most significant quality-of-life upgrades in the upcoming One UI 9 update.
