NEW DELHI — Samsung has officially begun rolling out its major One UI 8.5 update to its budget and mid-range M-series lineup, with the Galaxy M56 being the first device to receive the software upgrade in India. F-series smartphones are expected to follow suit in the coming days.

The update for the Galaxy M56, bearing firmware version M566BXXU5CZE2, is currently rolling out in phases. Because this is a major operating system overhaul rather than a routine security patch, the installation file is quite substantial at 2.2 GB. It also includes the May 2026 security patch to address the latest device vulnerabilities.

At the core of the One UI 8.5 update are deep user-experience enhancements. The South Korean tech giant has heavily optimized the system to deliver smoother performance, faster touch response rates, and improved battery life. System animations have been refined to feel more natural, while multitasking and default apps now run with significantly greater stability.

This rollout marks a shift in Samsung's current software strategy. After successfully distributing the new interface to its premium S-series, foldables, and upper-mid-range A-series, the company is now focusing on its more accessible devices to ensure a unified ecosystem experience.

According to the deployment roadmap, update availability will vary by region and carrier. However, Samsung aims to complete the rollout for all eligible devices before the end of July. Users can manually check for the software by navigating to Settings, selecting Software update, and tapping Download and install.
