Samsung has officially started rolling out the stable One UI 8.5 update to its 2023 foldable duo, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5.
The rollout is kicking off in the company's home market of South Korea. The new firmware for the Z Fold 5 carries the build number GZDT, while the Z Flip 5 receives version GZDU. Because Samsung typically rolls out its software updates in phases, users in other regions—including Vietnam—shouldn't have to wait much longer to see the notification pop up on their devices.
Samsung has already completed the One UI 8.5 rollout for its newer foldables, starting with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, before expanding to 2024 and 2025 models. Older devices, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4, are also on the eligibility list. If the company maintains its current pace, users of those older models could see the new software before the end of the month.
Looking ahead, Samsung will continue expanding the One UI 8.5 update to more smartphones and tablets in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, the tech giant is also testing One UI 9, based on Android 17. The One UI 9 Beta program is currently live for the Galaxy S26 series in select regions, with plans to expand its scale and add more supported devices soon.
How to get the update: For Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 users in Vietnam, you can manually check for the new software in the coming days by heading to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
