Samsung has just officially announced the content of the October 2025 security patch (Security Maintenance Release – SMR) for Galaxy devices. This update fixes a total of 34 security vulnerabilities discovered by Samsung, Google and partners, and will be deployed to users in the next few days.
According to information from Samsung, the October security patch includes 14 vulnerabilities in the Android operating system that are classified as high severity, but there are no “critical” errors or errors related to semiconductor hardware. In addition to the patches from Google, Samsung also handled 20 errors in the Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) group – security issues that are unique to Galaxy devices such as phones, tablets and smartwatches.
One of the most notable bugs fixed this month is a vulnerability in Samsung DeX, which could allow attackers to access the list of recent applications. Samsung also patched a flaw in the fingerprint sensor system that could be exploited to write data outside of the valid memory area. On the Galaxy Watch, the company addressed a security vulnerability that put user data at risk of being leaked due to unsafe storage.
In addition, the October patch also strengthens security for important components such as Contacts, KnoxGuard, and Knox Enterprise, helping to prevent unauthorized access between multiple user profiles, limit API abuse, and prevent malicious code from executing on the system.
Users can install the new update by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install to ensure the device is always in the safest state. Currently, Samsung is also expanding the deployment of the stable One UI 8 (Android 16) version to many Galaxy models, bringing a more modern, smooth, and secure software experience.
