Following months of rigorous beta testing that kicked off late last year, Samsung has officially launched the stable One UI 8.5 update for eligible Galaxy devices. The initial phase of the rollout, which began in early May, prioritizes the 2025 premium flagship and foldable lineups, starting with the South Korean market. Notably, the Galaxy S25 series and the 7th-generation foldables were the first to receive the update notification.

Meanwhile, newer models such as the Galaxy S26, Galaxy A57, and Galaxy A37 already run this new software right out of the box.

Following Samsung’s traditional update roadmap, the new software package will gradually expand to other regions and make its way to mid-range and budget smartphones over the coming weeks. The entire transition process is expected to wrap up by late July.

Because the rollout is phased and depends heavily on your specific market and carrier, some users may need to wait a few extra days for the OTA (Over-The-Air) notification to arrive.

Built on top of Android 16, the new One UI 8.5 update promises to deliver a much more intuitive user interface coupled with buttery-smooth system animations. To manually check for the upgrade, simply navigate to Settings > Software update and tap Download and install.
