Samsung Galaxy S22 also gets February 2025 update

While the One UI 7.0 update has yet to be released for older devices, Samsung is still making sure to maintain its monthly security update schedule. After releasing the February 2025 security patch for the Galaxy S24 and S23, Samsung is now extending the update to the Galaxy S22 series, keeping older devices better protected against the latest security vulnerabilities.

Currently, the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra are receiving the February 2025 security update in Europe with the firmware version S90*BXXSDEYA1, before expanding to other markets around the world. As usual, this update focuses mainly on security patches, without any new features or UI improvements.

Samsung has not yet announced a stable One UI 7.0 rollout schedule. Under its usual update cycle, the update should have been available to users by the end of last year. However, with the Galaxy S24 series likely to receive another beta before the stable build is released, older devices like the Galaxy S22 may have to wait a little longer.

Samsung's February 2025 security update fixes more than 40 vulnerabilities, most of which come from Google, to strengthen the protection of the Android operating system. After completing the rollout for the Galaxy S22 series, Samsung is expected to continue expanding the patch to more devices, including foldable models and the newly launched Galaxy S25 series.

Galaxy S22 users can check for and download the update now by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
