Samsung is preparing to roll out One UI 8 based on Android 16 to its Galaxy smartphones and tablets. As usual, the beta program is being released first for the latest flagship series – the Galaxy S25 – and these will also be the first devices to receive the stable update.

However, One UI 8 is not exclusive to the Galaxy S25 series. Many previous Galaxy S models will also be upgraded, expanding the Galaxy AI experience and new features for users.

Galaxy S models that will get the One UI 8 upgrade

According to Samsung's official software update policy, the full list includes:

  • Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, S25 Edge
  • Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, S24 FE
  • Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, S23 FE
  • Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra
  • Galaxy S21 FE

This will be the last major update for some models

For the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S21 FE series, One UI 8/Android 16 will be the last major OS update. These devices will continue to receive One UI 8.5 (launched with the Galaxy S26 in 2026) and regular security patches, but will no longer be upgraded to newer versions of Android or One UI. Users who want a longer-lasting experience will need to upgrade to the new Galaxy series.

With One UI 8, Samsung continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing a long-term software lifecycle for Galaxy users, ensuring that both old and new devices enjoy important improvements in performance, interface, and smart features.
