Samsung has just rolled out the One UI 9 Beta 2 update for its flagship Galaxy S26 lineup in select test markets, including the U.S. Taking a different approach from the initial release, this latest upgrade focuses heavily on squashing user-reported bugs to optimize the system before the stable version debuts alongside Samsung's upcoming foldable phones.

Carrying a firmware version ending in ZZEQ, the second beta brings several much-needed fixes. For developers, Samsung has patched the GPUWatch performance monitoring tool, putting an end to those frustrating interruption notifications. Everyday users will also notice improvements, with sudden crashes in the Routines app and visual glitches on the status bar now fully resolved.

The lock screen has received some crucial attention as well. The system now correctly applies clock font changes when using the LockStar customization app. Furthermore, the bizarre bug where the lock screen clock would slowly migrate down the display over time has been completely ironed out in this build.

Performance-wise, the device handles bulk message deletion much better, eliminating previous lag and freezing issues. Gamers will also appreciate a smoother experience, thanks to fixes tied to the Game Booster optimizer.

Built on the new Android 17 platform, the first One UI 9 Beta introduced massive changes to the interface and features—making initial operating bugs practically inevitable. While Beta 2 doesn't serve as a cure-all for every lingering issue, Samsung is expected to drop more incremental patches throughout the testing phase to ensure a highly polished final release.
