Samsung is doubling down on polishing its latest software, rolling out the One UI 8.5 Beta 2 for the Galaxy S23 series earlier this week. This latest update heavily targets critical bug fixes, aiming to smooth out the daily user experience ahead of the highly anticipated stable release. Notably, the devices will remain on the April 2026 security patch.

Carrying the firmware version ZZDP, the beta is rolling out to the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra. The tech giant's primary focus here is stabilizing core functionalities—specifically calls, camera performance, and connectivity. Samsung has successfully addressed a frustrating glitch that caused screens to go black or become unresponsive during incoming calls, alongside fixing an erratic proximity sensor.

On the camera front, the update squashes a visual bug that produced a green line during 4K HDR video recording in certain apps. Post-update, video capture is significantly more stable, keeping those unwanted visual artifacts at bay. Furthermore, under-the-hood tweaks to Bluetooth performance and multi-touch capabilities promise a noticeably smoother user interaction.

Beta testers eager to try the new software can check for availability by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install. The rollout is currently happening in phases across select markets, with a broader release expected soon.

It's highly likely we'll see more beta builds for the S23 lineup as Samsung fine-tunes the OS before the final launch. Meanwhile, the stable version of One UI 8.5 is slated to debut on the Galaxy S25 series by the end of April 2026, before trickling down to other devices in early May.
