Samsung's server systems have just registered new firmware builds for a range of mobile devices, signaling that the next major software update is right around the corner. According to the latest leaked data, the South Korean tech giant has officially entered the development phase for the One UI 9.0 interface, targeting the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 foldables, as well as the mid-range Galaxy A37 and A26.

For the 2024 foldables, newly spotted software data indicates that Samsung is accelerating OS optimization for its flexible displays. Meanwhile, the Galaxy A37 and A26 have popped up with new firmware versions—A376BXXU3BZG1 and A266MUBU9DZF1, respectively. Given that both mid-rangers currently run One UI 8.5, this upgrade move is a clear indicator that they are being prepped directly for the next-generation software.

Unlike One UI 8.5, which is built on Android 16 QPR2, the all-new One UI 9.0 will be based on Android 17. This upgrade promises deep system-level improvements, including more powerful customization for the Quick Panel, alongside new auxiliary features for Game Booster, Samsung DeX, and Samsung Notes. Additionally, the new OS ramps up security with automatic alerts when background apps access location data, while also optimizing accessibility features for users.

Earlier in May, Samsung offered its first glimpse of One UI 9.0 through a limited beta program for the Galaxy S26 series. According to the projected roadmap, the stable release of this operating system will debut alongside the next-generation foldable trio—the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Fold 8 Ultra, and Flip 8—at the Unpacked event scheduled for July 22.

Following the hardware launch, the company will kick off its software rollout for older devices. Flagships and recent premium models are expected to receive update notifications between August and September, while users of budget or older devices will get to experience the new OS from September through November.
