Samsung is rapidly expanding its January 2026 security update rollout. Following a wave of Galaxy smartphones, the Galaxy Tab S9, S9+, and S9 Ultra are now receiving the latest patch, starting with users in South Korea.
According to details shared on X, the update carries firmware version X816NKOS5DZA1 and weighs in at approximately 428MB. It focuses on addressing over 50 security vulnerabilities found within the Android OS and Samsung’s own software components. While this update does not introduce new features, installing it promptly is highly recommended to ensure device safety.
Currently, the rollout is limited to South Korea. However, given Samsung’s typical release schedule, the update is expected to expand to the US and other global markets in the coming days.
Users can manually check for the update by heading to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. Once downloaded, select Install Now, and the device will reboot to finalize the process.
