The first One UI 8.5 beta has arrived with a notable upgrade to the Galaxy ecosystem. Beyond introducing fresh interfaces and features, this version brings Storage Share—a capability that enables seamless file access and sharing across multiple Samsung devices.

According to Samsung's changelog, Storage Share lets users access files from other Samsung phones, tablets, and computers directly within the My Files app on their phone. You can also view content from your phone on other Samsung devices, including TVs.

On the Galaxy S25 Ultra running One UI 8.5 beta, Storage Share appears as a toggle switch in My Files. The shared storage section sits within external storage, making it simple for users to manage and navigate.

In real-world testing, a Galaxy S25 Ultra could access the storage of a Galaxy Z Fold 7 and view files remotely. However, quick file downloads or using Quick Share directly from shared storage don't yet work smoothly, suggesting Samsung will likely refine this feature in upcoming beta builds.

Still, Storage Share is a useful addition. The feature promises to enhance multi-device productivity—imagine snapping photos or creating documents on one device and editing them on another without manual file transfers. Users can also view phone content directly on their Samsung TV without screen mirroring.

One UI 8.5 beta also upgrades Quick Share with two noteworthy changes. The feature can now identify friends or family members in photos and suggest sharing directly with them. It's unclear whether facial recognition processing happens entirely on-device or leverages the cloud, though local processing would offer privacy advantages.

Additionally, Samsung adds an option to restrict which devices can send Quick Share files. Users can choose to only receive files from devices logged into their own Google or Samsung accounts, strengthening security and control over file sharing.
