Samsung's One UI 8 rollout has been generally smooth over the past two weeks, but the first issues have surfaced on some devices. According to user reports, the Galaxy Z Fold SE is experiencing touch issues after installing the update, forcing Samsung to quickly pull the update from its servers.
Many Galaxy Z Fold SE users have reported that the issue occurs immediately after unlocking their device. The touchscreen becomes sluggish or unresponsive, making it difficult to use. The only temporary fix currently is to lock and unlock the device again, which gets the device working again, but is inconvenient for everyday use.
In response to the complaints, Samsung has immediately stopped releasing One UI 8 for the Galaxy Z Fold SE. This means that those who haven't downloaded it will have to wait for a new patch, while those who have installed it may need to rely on upcoming hotfixes or minor updates to completely fix it.
As noted, this bug currently only affects the Galaxy Z Fold SE and has not appeared on other Galaxy devices that have upgraded to One UI 8. Since the Z Fold SE is not sold globally, the actual impact is quite limited, but this is still an annoying problem for the group of users who own the device. Meanwhile, Samsung continues to expand One UI 8 to other devices, including the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy Tab S10, and more models are expected to be upgraded in the coming days.
