Samsung continues to expand the deployment of the October 2025 security patch for many Galaxy devices. Most recently, the Galaxy S20 FE 5G and Galaxy A05 4G models have officially been updated. Although they no longer receive major feature updates, users should still install the new patch to increase the security level of the device.
For the Galaxy S20 FE 5G, the update was released after the successor models in Korea received it earlier. The new firmware, codenamed G781NKSSDGYJ1, focuses on improving security and system stability, without adding new features. According to Samsung, the October patch fixes more than 30 security vulnerabilities discovered in the Android operating system and One UI.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy A05 4G also started receiving the October patch in some Asian markets such as Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Pakistan with codename A055FXXSBDYJ2. Samsung said the update will soon expand to more regions in the near future.
Neither the Galaxy S20 FE nor the Galaxy A05 is on the list of One UI 8 upgrades. Specifically, the Galaxy S20 FE stops at Android 13 with One UI 5, while the Galaxy A05 has completed its software lifecycle at One UI 7 (Android 15). These two devices will continue to receive a few more security patches before stopping support completely.
Samsung is currently pausing the release of One UI 8 for some devices, but is still maintaining a high speed in deploying the October security patch, ranging from the high-end Galaxy S25 series to popular devices like the Galaxy A05.
Users can check and install the update manually by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install. After the download is complete, select Install now to have the device automatically restart and complete the October security update.
