Samsung has started rolling out the January 2026 security update for the Galaxy A55, marking the beginning of its global release. This latest patch focuses heavily on fortifying system security, addressing 55 specific vulnerabilities found in previous software versions.

Reports indicate that the rollout is currently underway for Galaxy A55 units in Europe (model number SM-A556B). The update carries the firmware version A556BXXSCCZA1 and is now available for users to download via the air (OTA).

As is typical with standard monthly security patches, this update doesn't bring any new features or cosmetic changes to the user interface. Instead, it works "under the hood" to fix bugs and enhance overall device stability. Samsung is expected to expand the rollout to other markets within the next week or two.

Galaxy A55 owners can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings > Software Update > Download and install. If the update hasn't hit your device yet, you may need to wait a few days as Samsung releases the firmware in waves across different regions.

Looking ahead, the Galaxy A55 remains a key candidate for the major One UI 8.5 upgrade, which will be based on Android 16 QPR2. That substantial update—expected to bring significant design changes and new features—is slated to arrive shortly after the official launch of the Galaxy S26 series.
