Samsung is gearing up to expand its One UI 8.5 Beta program to the Galaxy S23 lineup, with internal firmware testing already underway. This move suggests that the public beta for the 2023 flagships is on track for a rollout this April.
Recent findings reveal that Samsung is actively testing the update on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, utilizing an initial build tagged as S918BXXU9ZZD1. The tech giant is currently utilizing this internal testing phase to iron out system bugs before greenlighting a public release.
This development follows Samsung’s recent push to bring the beta to newer devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, Fold 6, Flip 6, the Galaxy S24 series, as well as the S25 FE and S24 FE. The Galaxy S23 is expected to be the next major addition in this month's expansion wave.
While an exact launch date remains under wraps, industry watchers anticipate a mid-April drop. Alongside the S23 series, older foldables like the Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 might also join the beta roster during this window.
The One UI 8.5 Beta is slated to go live in six key markets: Germany, India, Poland, South Korea, the UK, and the US. Users outside these regions will have to hold tight for the stable, official release.
Built on the foundation of Android 16, One UI 8.5 is shaping up to deliver significant interface and user experience overhauls. The update heavily focuses on a redesigned UI, streamlined navigation, and overall performance enhancements, promising a noticeably smoother day-to-day feel.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy S25 series—which entered the beta program late last year—could see its stable update arrive before April concludes. In related news, the April 2026 security patch has already started rolling out to the Galaxy S26 and is expected to hit other devices shortly.
