Samsung Galaxy users are finally receiving a highly practical and long-awaited upgrade: a real-time network speed indicator located directly on the status bar. Long a standard feature on rival Chinese smartphones, this utility has been conspicuously absent from Samsung's ecosystem, making its arrival a major win for the brand's loyal enthusiasts.
Previously, monitoring internet speeds on a Galaxy device forced users into one of two inconvenient paths: downloading third-party apps from the Play Store or resorting to device rooting. Both methods introduced their own set of headaches, ranging from cluttered interfaces and severe battery drain to compromised device security. Fortunately, this major shift arrives via a new update to QuickStar, a popular customization module within the Good Lock suite. While it is not yet a native toggle buried deep in the core OS settings, it currently stands as the safest and most official solution for Samsung users.
How the Feature Works Once activated, a sleek internet speed icon sits neatly in the right corner of the status bar, displaying real-world upload and download speeds in either KB/s or MB/s. Early testing shows the tool is highly accurate across both Wi-Fi and mobile data (4G/5G) connections. This allows users to easily diagnose whether video buffering or slow downloads are the result of network hiccups or app-specific glitches.
Supported Devices and One UI Versions To experience this feature, devices must be running the One UI 9 interface, based on the Android 17 platform. The new operating system is currently in its beta phase and is exclusively available for the Galaxy S26 series across six markets: Germany, India, South Korea, Poland, the UK, and the US. While Samsung is expected to expand the rollout to older models in the near future, there is no official word yet on whether this specific network tool will trickle down to previous One UI versions.
How to Enable the Network Speed Indicator Because One UI 9 is still in beta, the version of QuickStar featuring this tool has not yet been widely released on the Galaxy Store. If you own a Galaxy S26 enrolled in the beta program and want an early look, you can manually install and activate it by following these simple steps:
-
Download and install the Good Lock app from the Galaxy Store or Google Play Store.
-
Sideload the manual installation file for QuickStar version 11.0.03.15 from a trusted source, installing it via your device's My Files app.
-
Open Good Lock, navigate to the Plugins section, and tap on QuickStar.
-
Toggle the switch at the top of the screen to ON.
-
Go to Visibility of indicator icons and enable the Network Speed option.

Once completed, your internet speed statistics will instantly appear on the status bar. If you ever prefer a cleaner, more minimalist display, you can easily disable the feature at any time by reversing these steps.
