Samsung has officially detailed its February 2026 security update, which is expected to begin rolling out to eligible Galaxy smartphones and tablets in the coming days. The latest patch addresses a total of 37 security flaws found within both the Android operating system and Samsung’s proprietary software.
With cyber threats evolving rapidly, consistent software maintenance remains the first line of defense for personal data. Samsung continues to adhere to its monthly release cycle, ensuring Galaxy users are protected against the latest exploits as quickly as possible.
What’s inside the update?
According to the release notes, the update resolves 25 high-priority vulnerabilities in the Android OS, which were identified and patched by Google. In addition, Samsung has included fixes for 12 vulnerabilities specific to its own devices, known as Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE).
Among the key fixes is a patch for the Emergency Sharing feature. Previously, a vulnerability allowed local attackers to disrupt the service (Denial of Service) without proper authorization; this has now been mitigated with stricter access controls.
The update also patches a loophole in the Samsung Dialer app that could allow unauthorized activity launches. Other notable fixes address security gaps in KnoxGuardManager, PACM, FacAtFunction, and ShortcutService.
How to update
As is standard with Samsung’s rollout strategy, availability will vary by region, carrier, and device model. Users can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. Galaxy owners are encouraged to install the patch as soon as it becomes available to ensure their devices remain secure.
