Hot on the heels of rolling out its latest software to the 2025 flagship lineup, Samsung is bringing One UI 8.5 to its previous generation of foldables. The stable update is now officially live for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, breathing new life into the 2024 devices.
While it isn't a complete design overhaul, One UI 8.5 focuses heavily on optimizing the user experience, making everyday interactions feel more refined. For the Z Fold 6, Samsung has fine-tuned the entire animation system, particularly when switching between apps in multitasking or split-screen modes. Interacting with floating windows and transitioning between the main and cover screens is now noticeably smoother, virtually eliminating those minor stutters.
For the clamshell Flip 6, the update enhances the cover screen's practicality. Widgets are now more responsive, and the interface has been refreshed to make on-the-go actions easier without needing to unfold the phone. Notably, Samsung has trickled down several AI features introduced on the S26 series, giving users of last year’s foldables access to some of the latest smart tools.
The update is currently available in South Korea, with a wider global rollout—including Vietnam—expected later this week. To check for the new features, users can head to Settings > Software Update > Download and install. Grabbing the update early not only improves system stability but also brings the latest security patches for long-term use.
