After completing the update for the Galaxy S25 and S24 series, Samsung has started releasing the July 2025 security patch for the Galaxy S23 series. This update not only enhances system security but also improves stability and performance, which is considered a preparation step before this series officially upgrades to One UI 8. The new operating system update is expected to be released in August, although Samsung has not given a specific schedule.

According to information from Samsung, the July update brings 40 security patches, including a serious vulnerability from Android and a patch for the Exynos chip line. In addition, the company has also fixed issues related to the Samsung Knox system, Galaxy Watch interface, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi security, and the emergency SOS feature.
Currently, the update is being deployed for the Galaxy S23, S23,+ and S23 Ultra in Korea with the software code DYG1. Samsung will expand the release to the global market in the coming days. Since it does not include new features, the OTA update is quite small, under 500MB. Users are still recommended to use a Wi-Fi connection to ensure a stable download process.
This update still runs on the One UI 7 platform. Meanwhile, Galaxy S23 users are eagerly waiting for One UI 8 running on Android 16. Samsung launched One UI 8 along with new foldable devices this month, but has not announced an official release schedule for older models. With the July patch, it can be seen that Samsung is gradually completing the system before a comprehensive upgrade for the Galaxy S23 series.
