Samsung is preparing to release One UI 8.5, the next major update of the Galaxy interface based on Android 16. The official launch is expected to take place after the Galaxy S26 series is announced, while the beta testing program may start from the end of November. The latest leaks show that this update will not only improve performance and AI, but also add many smart features to help users manage notifications more effectively.
One of the notable changes is the “Prioritize notifications” feature that was just discovered in the leaked One UI 8.5 firmware. This feature helps users ensure that they do not miss important notifications by allowing some notifications to be displayed more prominently than the rest. The description in the screenshot says: “Important notifications will be displayed above so you do not miss them.”

In particular, users can choose which applications are prioritized in the notification settings of each application. For example, if you often miss emails from Outlook, you can set notifications from this application to always appear on top. Every time you open the phone, unread notifications from Outlook will appear before other applications.
Samsung also emphasized that all notification data is processed directly on the device, not sent to the cloud or external servers. This helps protect user privacy better - one of Samsung's top priorities in the AI era.
Currently, the firmware version with the code number CYJH is still being tested internally. It is not clear whether the "Prioritize notifications" feature will appear in the upcoming beta version, but it is likely that One UI 8.5 when released with the Galaxy S26 series, will include all of these smart tweaks.
