A recently leaked beta version of One UI 9 for the Galaxy S25+ has revealed a surprising move from Samsung: the tech giant is finally bringing its exclusive camera features down to older devices.

The star of this update is Horizontal Lock, a top-tier stabilization feature previously exclusive to the Galaxy S26 lineup. By optimizing algorithms to lock the frame along the horizontal axis, this feature completely eliminates camera tilt when recording on the move. The result is smooth, cinematic footage without the need for a dedicated gimbal.

Previously, with the release of One UI 8.5, the South Korean tech giant faced massive backlash from the community. Fans were frustrated that the company intentionally withheld this feature from older, hardware-capable models. The decision to include Horizontal Lock in One UI 9 is widely seen as a timely olive branch to Samsung's loyal customer base.

The upgrade also introduces My FanCam, an AI-powered videography assistant. Instead of manually panning to follow a subject, users can simply select their main target. The camera automatically recognizes, tracks, and locks the subject in the center of the frame, regardless of the surrounding action.

Samsung has also tweaked the overall usability in the new OS for better practicality and security. The settings menu will now feature a Care and Warranty section, allowing users to check battery health, run hardware diagnostics, and view warranty status with a single tap. Additionally, a new Secure Locking feature lets users instantly disable fingerprint and facial recognition in emergency situations, forcing a PIN entry to access the device.

Currently, these upgraded features are missing from the One UI 9 Beta for existing models. It is highly likely that Samsung is keeping them under wraps as a strategic highlight for the upcoming launch of the Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 later this month. Following the release of the new foldables, the stable One UI 9 update is expected to roll out widely to the S26, S25, and older devices toward the end of the year.
