When spending a large amount of money to own a high-end phone like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 or Galaxy Z Flip 7, many people will definitely ask the question: "How long will Samsung support the software?" This is an increasingly important factor because it directly affects the lifespan of the device.
The good news is that both of Samsung's latest foldable phones are committed to supporting software updates for 7 years. This policy has been applied by Samsung since the Galaxy S24 series launched in early 2024, marking a big step forward compared to previous years.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 launch with Android 16 and One UI 8. This means that users can continue to receive major updates up to Android 23 (expected to correspond to One UI 15) until around 2031 or 2032. This is the longest support period ever for a Samsung foldable phone.
In addition, Samsung is also applying a software update policy of up to 8 years for some devices in the Enterprise version. Although not officially confirmed, it is possible that the Enterprise versions of the Fold 7 and Flip 7 will also be supported for a longer period, possibly until 2033.
Regular software updates over a long period of time not only ensure that the device always has new features and important security patches but also help the device maintain stable performance, increasing its long-term value.
