Google has officially confirmed that the seamless file-sharing compatibility between Quick Share and Apple’s AirDrop will soon be available on a wider range of Android devices, expanding beyond its current exclusivity on the Pixel lineup. This significant update paves the way for Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets to share data directly with iPhones, iPads, and Macs without relying on third-party applications.

While Google initially introduced Quick Share-AirDrop compatibility exclusively on the Pixel 10 a few months ago, the feature is now set for a broader rollout. Speaking during a tour of Pixel Labs, Eric Kay, Vice President of Android Platform Engineering, confirmed that this cross-platform capability will reach other Android manufacturers later in 2026.

According to Google, the company has dedicated significant resources to ensuring Quick Share maintains stability when connecting with the Apple ecosystem, including iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks. Following successful internal testing and positive results, Google is now preparing to deploy the feature across the wider Android ecosystem.

As Samsung devices generally receive new Android features ahead of the pack, industry observers expect Galaxy smartphones and tablets to be among the first non-Pixel devices to support native AirDrop sharing.

Speculation suggests that Samsung could integrate this functionality in the upcoming One UI 8.5 or One UI 9 updates. There is also a strong possibility that the feature could be highlighted during the launch of the Galaxy S26 series later this month, though official confirmation from Samsung is still pending.

Commenting on the roadmap, Eric Kay noted that Google has built a solution compatible not just with the iPhone, but across Apple's hardware suite. Now that stability has been proven, the company is actively collaborating with partners to bring this technology to more devices within the Android landscape.
