Even though its official launch is still months away, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 is already making its rounds on certification platforms, giving us an early glimpse at its spec sheet. Most recently, the device popped up on China's 3C database under the model number SM-F7760—likely the regional variant. The biggest takeaway? It appears the device will continue to support a maximum of 25W wired charging, signaling that Samsung is holding off on a speed bump for its upcoming clamshell foldable.
For some fans, this might be a tough pill to swallow. Samsung has kept the Flip series capped at 25W for several generations now. In an era where competing smartphones in the same bracket routinely blow past the 45W mark, 25W feels more like the bare minimum rather than a strong competitive edge. This disparity is glaring even within Samsung’s own ecosystem: while the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra and S26+ are expected to hit 60W and 45W respectively, the base S26 seems stuck at 25W alongside the Flip 8.
Beyond charging speeds, earlier rumors suggest the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will retain the 4,300mAh battery found in its predecessor. If true, it indicates that Samsung is banking on chip efficiency and software optimization rather than increasing raw battery capacity. Under the hood, the company is reportedly weighing its options between the Exynos 2600 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. It remains to be seen whether Samsung will split these chipsets by region, as it currently does with the Galaxy S26 lineup.
This year is shaping up to be a busy one for Samsung's foldable division. The tech giant is widely expected to roll out three new devices: the Flip 8, the Fold 8, and a wider book-style foldable tentatively dubbed the Galaxy Z Fold Wide. With the launch event still a few months out, expect the rumor mill to churn out plenty more details on the Galaxy Z Flip 8 in the coming weeks.
