Samsung isn't ready to release a stable version of One UI 8 Watch for the Galaxy Watch 7 yet. Despite the beta program running for more than two months, the official release hasn't arrived yet. Instead, the company has started rolling out the August 2025 security update for the Watch 7, starting in South Korea before expanding globally in the coming days.

The Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra have both been part of the Wear OS 6-based One UI 8 Watch Beta program since late June. However, while the Ultra has been receiving the stable update for more than a month, the Galaxy Watch 7 is still waiting. Samsung recently released another beta, and now it's adding a security patch for those who didn't participate or weren't eligible for the beta.

While it doesn't bring the major upgrades that users were hoping for, the August update is still important, with security patches and performance improvements that should help keep the device stable during everyday use. Galaxy Watch 7 owners can check and download it via the Galaxy Wearable app on the accompanying phone.

Samsung has not given an official reason for the delay of the stable One UI 8 Watch version on the Watch 7. Meanwhile, the company has confirmed that it will launch a beta program for older models in September. Hopefully, this won't cause the Galaxy Watch 7 to wait any longer. Current users can install the August patch to ensure their devices are secure and optimized while they wait for the upcoming major update.
