Samsung has confirmed that the One UI 8 Watch Beta program will expand to the Galaxy Watch 5 series and newer models. Currently, only the Galaxy Watch 7 is participating in the test, while the Galaxy Watch Ultra has received a stable version.

After completing the development phase for the Galaxy Watch 6, Samsung has begun internal testing for the Galaxy Watch 5. According to Aptivi, this means that the smartwatch models launched in 2022 are getting closer to the time when users can experience the beta.

Those who want to explore early can soon sign up for the One UI 8 Watch test on the Galaxy Watch 5, initially applicable to the LTE version with a T-Mobile plan. The beta builds that have been recorded include:

  • Galaxy Watch 5 Pro: R920XXU1ZYH1
  • Galaxy Watch 5 40mm: R910XXU1ZYH1
  • Galaxy Watch 5 44mm: R920XXU1ZYH1

When the stable version is released, the build number will end with “DY**”. One UI 8 Watch will bring a series of new features, notably support for the Facer app, which has been long-awaited by the user community.

However, Samsung also noted that not all of the new features of the Galaxy Watch 8 series will be available on the Galaxy Watch 5. This will be the third major software upgrade for the Watch 5 series, with a maximum of four major updates planned. That means the device will also receive One UI Watch 9 next year.

In addition, Samsung has just released One UI 8 Watch Beta 2 for the Galaxy Watch 7, showing that the company is accelerating the testing process across the entire new and old smartwatch ecosystem.
