Samsung has started rolling out the August 2025 security update for the Galaxy A73, Galaxy A33, and Galaxy A36. While users are still waiting for One UI 8 to experience the full Android 16 experience, the new patch brings important improvements to security, stability, and system reliability. The update is now available in select markets and will continue to expand in the coming weeks.

The Galaxy A73 and Galaxy A33 launched in March 2022, and are on track to receive four major OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. One UI 8, based on Android 16, will be the last major upgrade for both models, but users will still be guaranteed security patches for a few more years. This August update carries the A736BXXSAFYH2 version for the Galaxy A73 and A336EDXSEFYH2 version for the Galaxy A33, and is currently rolling out to select Asian countries.

As for the Galaxy A36 – Samsung’s latest mid-range model – the device is currently running One UI 7 and will officially join the One UI 8 Beta testing program next month, becoming one of the first Galaxy A series devices to experience new features on Android 16. In the meantime, Galaxy A36 users have also started receiving the August patch with the A366BXXS4AYH9 version, currently rolling out in Europe and India.

According to Samsung, the August 2025 security patch fixes 29 vulnerabilities in the Android OS and 18 security issues specific to Galaxy, including a serious bug related to Samsung Account that allows attackers to disable accounts. Additionally, the patch also addresses vulnerabilities in critical components like Document Scanner and Emergency SOS. Users can check for and install the update by going to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.
