The Galaxy A55 is getting closer to its biggest software update of the year.

While the One UI 8 Beta testing program is currently limited to the Galaxy S25 series in some markets, many other Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy A55, will be updated to the stable version after the testing phase ends.

More interestingly, the Galaxy A55 was recently spotted on the Geekbench database running Android 16. According to information from user @Alfaturk16, the device has the model number SM-A556E, and the appearance of Android 16 suggests that Samsung may have started testing One UI 8 on this model.

Although it is not clear whether this is an official or internal version, the benchmark results recorded a single-core performance score of about 1,150 and a multi-core score of about 3,417, which is equivalent to the current performance of the device running Android 15. This shows that the One UI 8 version is still in the optimization and completion stage.

However, Galaxy A55 users will probably have to wait a little longer. Samsung often prioritizes updates for high-end or newer devices, such as the Galaxy A56. However, if the testing progress goes smoothly, the Galaxy A55 can completely receive the official update by the end of 2025.

In addition, the Galaxy M55 and Galaxy F55 models are also on the list of upgrades to One UI 8, but will likely be updated after the Galaxy A55. We will continue to update when there is more information from Samsung.
