Samsung has just released the August 2025 security update for the Galaxy A55, just ahead of the One UI 8 beta testing program. The company had previously confirmed that the Galaxy A55 would be included in the beta list in select markets, which is expected to start in September. In South Korea, the model is sold as the Galaxy Quantum 5 and has already started receiving the new patch, while other regions will be updated soon.
This is the second mid-range smartphone from Samsung to receive the August patch, after the Galaxy A56. The update has also been rolled out to the 2024 and 2025 flagship series, such as the Galaxy S25, S24, Fold 7, and Fold 6. In total, nearly 50 security vulnerabilities have been fixed, including many serious bugs that affect data security.
Galaxy A55/Quantum 5 users in South Korea are now receiving the update with firmware code BYH1. While it doesn't add any new features, the August 2025 patch makes the device more stable and secure, ready for the next major upgrade. The Galaxy A55 is scheduled to join the One UI 8 beta in September, with the official version expected to launch before the end of the year.
In addition to the Galaxy A55, Samsung is also expected to roll out the One UI 8 beta to the Galaxy A54, A36, and A35. Notably, the Galaxy A56 is not on the list, possibly due to its late launch in the US. Beta programs will take place in the US, UK, Korea, and India, starting this week with new releases for the Galaxy S24 and several other models.
