Even as Samsung continues to push its One UI 8.5 update to Galaxy devices, the rumor mill is already churning out details about what's next. Early leaks surrounding One UI 9 point to a subtle but significant visual overhaul, spotlighting a redesigned Now Bar, boxier widgets, and a tweaked Gallery app.
According to recent reports, the Now Bar is getting a moodier, darker aesthetic designed to improve visibility across various lighting conditions. Media playback is also getting a slick redesign: song titles will sit above a dynamic, pill-shaped waveform. For added convenience, a long-press will allow users to quickly dive into settings or disable the feature entirely.

Samsung also appears to be dialing back the curves. Widgets for native apps like Samsung Internet, Weather, and the Now Bar itself are reportedly adopting a boxier look with sharper corners, lending the interface a more uniform and structured feel. Rumors suggest users might even get the option to customize the corner radius to suit their personal taste.

The native Gallery app isn’t being left out of the redesign. When selecting multiple photos, users will reportedly see a new, slightly frosted overlay that neatly groups the selected images—up to 15 at a time—making bulk management far more intuitive.

Don't expect to see these changes on your phone anytime soon, however. With Samsung's current focus firmly planted on the One UI 8.5 rollout, One UI 9 is still months away. As with all early software leaks, these design choices are highly subject to change before the final release.
