The Galaxy Note series has officially come to an end. Samsung has just confirmed that the final Notes – the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra – will no longer receive any software updates. After a full five years of launch, software support has also ended, meaning users will be forced to upgrade to a new device if they don't want to use an outdated operating system.
The Galaxy Note 20 was launched in August 2020 with Android 10 and One UI 2.5. According to the policy at that time, Samsung committed to three major operating system updates, and the Note 20 received all of them. In the past two years, the device has only received regular security patches, and now the final patches have stopped.
This means that the Galaxy Note brand has officially become a thing of the past. For those who love the S Pen experience, there are now only two options. The Galaxy S Ultra series has become the "spiritual successor", bringing the full S Pen experience integrated into the body of the device.
The other option is the Galaxy Z Fold series, but there is one limitation: the latest Galaxy Z Fold 7 model does not support the S Pen. If you want to use the pen, you will have to look at older versions like the Galaxy Z Fold 6, but then the S Pen must be purchased separately and carried around, because the device does not have a pen slot.
Although the Galaxy Note name has ended, its legacy continues to live on in the Galaxy S Ultra series. With constant improvements, the “DNA of Note” promises to accompany Galaxy users for many years to come.
