Samsung has officially kicked off its January 2026 security rollout, and once again, the humble Galaxy A34 is outpacing the company’s more expensive flagship models. The mid-range device is the first in the Galaxy ecosystem to receive the latest patch, continuing a trend established in December when it also beat most of the lineup to the punch. A wider rollout to other devices is expected in the coming days.
Currently, the January 2026 security patch is live for the Galaxy A34 5G in South Korea, identified by firmware version A346NKSSCEYL2. The update clocks in at approximately 320MB. According to the changelog, this release is strictly a maintenance update focused on security improvements, with no new features added. Notably, the Galaxy A34 remains eligible for the upcoming One UI 8.5 update, which is slated for release in the first half of this year.
Like standard monthly releases, this update combines Google’s core Android security fixes with Samsung’s own One UI patches. In total, 55 vulnerabilities ranging from moderate to critical severity have been addressed. The majority of these fixes target issues specific to Samsung’s software rather than the underlying Android OS.
This isn’t the first time the Galaxy A34 has led the pack. The device was also the first to snag the December 2025 security patch. However, Samsung is expected to quickly expand availability to its premium tier, including the Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, and the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
It is worth noting that users already enrolled in the One UI 8.5 Beta program for the Galaxy S25 series have technically already received these January 2026 security fixes. Samsung integrated the patch into the third beta release, ensuring testers remain secure while trialing the new software.
