Samsung successfully deployed 26 Galaxy S25 Ultra units to support the live broadcast of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics opening ceremony on February 6. Working alongside traditional camera rigs, these smartphones provided fresh, immersive angles, offering global viewers a more vivid way to experience the spectacle.

In parallel, the tech giant gifted the Galaxy Z Flip 7 Olympic Edition to all competing athletes at both the Winter Olympics and Paralympics. This allows participants to capture and preserve their own personal memories from the world’s largest winter sports event.

held at the iconic Milano San Siro stadium, the opening ceremony hosted over 75,000 spectators and roughly 3,500 athletes. While the Flip 7 Olympic Edition served as a personal diary for the sports delegations, the S25 Ultra played a crucial role in expanding the broadcast perspective behind the scenes.

In collaboration with Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS), Samsung positioned the S25 Ultra devices in strategic locations throughout the stadium, including high above the field of play, within the stands, and along the athletes' entry route. These devices captured and transmitted footage wirelessly in real-time, adding flexible viewpoints without disrupting the established broadcast workflow.

According to an OBS representative, adding smartphone-generated footage allows the audience to feel the atmosphere and emotion of the event more intensely. It also aligns perfectly with modern viewing habits, where audiences increasingly consume content via mobile devices.

The direct integration of smartphones into the Olympic broadcast feed demonstrates that Samsung’s mobile imaging capabilities are ready for the global stage. The Galaxy S25 Ultra features a massive 200MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and dual telephoto lenses (10MP at 3x and 50MP at 5x). Coupled with 8K video support, the device proved it could deliver high-quality footage even in a complex live event environment.
